Samsung F210 Review - Editor's Review

30 May 2008
Samsung has brought the world the greatest and latest in technology. They have given us the most up-to-date gadgets from cameras to MP3s to household equipment and also mobile phones. One of the newest in the cellular phone technology is the Samsung F210. The Samsung F210 is the newly improved form of the Samsung X830 and this new phone is furnished with some novel features that would really blow ones mind. At first glance, the phone looks like a music player but a swivel could reveal a functional phone. Actually, it does look like one. With its completely rotating body, you wouldn’t really figure out how it all works and what it really is. The Samsung F210 is definitely slimmer and sleeker than that of its predecessors.

The Samsung F210 is a 2G phone with GSM 900/ 1800/ 1900 and it was released in November 2007. It has dimension 87.8 mm by 31 mm by 20.5 mm and just weighs 72 grams, even lighter than the Samsung E250. It displays 256k of color in TFT (thin film transistor) and it could make you view 128 by 220 pixels about 1.46 inches. It is a polyphonic phone with 64 channels and it has an MP3 player. You could also customize the phone by downloading tones and games, and it has a 3D surround sound system. The Samsung F210 could hold 1000 phonebook entries, 30 dialed numbers, 30 received calls and 30 missed calls in its call records. It has a memory card slot with a microSD or TransFlash with 1 GB embedded memory. It has Internet connectivity with GPRS class 10 with speed of 32 to 48 kbps; it has an EDGE capability, which allows it to become a modem. With its Bluetooth version 2.0 with A2DP and USB version 2.0, data sharing and file transfer is so much easier. Its browser is the WAP 2.0/xHTML and you could also download whatever games and tones without any problem. The Samsung F210 also has Java MIDP version 2.0 so there are a lot of applications, which are compatible with the phone.

What good is a phone without text call? Good thing the Samsung F210 doesn’t only have SMS and MMS, it is also capable of sending and receiving push emails so you can now receive important messages from your clients. For people who are into fashion, great news for you because the F210 comes is two stylish colors of black and blue!

Its camera is a 2-mega-pixel system, which produces high quality images at 1600 by 1200 pixels. With its large external memory, recording long videos is no longer a hassle. Its built-in media player is compatible with several file types such as MP3, WMA, AAC and even AAC+. You can also watch videos you have recording or even movies that you have transferred on the phone. Just like any Samsung phone, the F210 comes with a built in radio so you can get the latest news wherever you may be!

For those who are travel a lot through planes, you’d be happy to know that the phone has flight mode, which enables you to use its additional features even when you are in an aircraft. It has an organizer to help you keep track of your things to do, and it also features a handy calculator. The best thing about his phone is the voice memo, which is also operated through voice control.

But despite the many features of the Samsung F210, users complain of its small display, which is actually its biggest disadvantage. This phone is clearly not made for use by people who have bad eyesight and those who aren’t too adept with technology as navigation of the menus can also be difficult with its click-wheel control. Most users get annoyed by the fact that the media player automatically switches on when the screen is closed. This is probably the reason why some users find the phone dead after a few hours despite the fact that they weren’t really using it.

In general, the Samsung F210 is a cute, stylish phone. Its many features is quite attractive for the younger generation but it is also a device that some people must definitely avoid because its use and controls are not as straightforward as the other Samsung phones in the market.

Just got Samsung f210 as a present. Love this little beauty for it's size and style. It takes a little time to get to know the functions and the menu wheel is kind of tricky, but once mastered it's great. A first class MP3 player and radio coupled with 2MP camera as well as Bluetooth and Wap access makes this a great buy. I like it's handy size and the only annoying feature is the flimsy plastic cover at the bottom connector. The package comes with a charger, headset and a usb cable. All in all a smart little phone that looks good and sounds good.

It takes a while just to get used to it , because it is a bit confusing at the start but once u get every organised on it and u get 2 no the fone it is a lot easier!! It is a stylish fone. There is only one problem when u have to have the music sceen on when u slide it down. that is a little annoying but i may be able to switch it around so it is the main sceen hopefully! Overall the fone is really good!!!!

I must say that i love the mobile but i do think that the price should be brought down, because being a young teenager with no job i couldn't get that sort of money in a year let alone a few months or a few weeks
