Having previously owned a Samsung E740, it was a considerable downgrade to purchase the Samsung C170 as a replacement.
The reason for doing this was primarily because I prefer simple phones with basic functions as I failed to use all the applications on the E740 at all regularly. Also, the phone is indeed quite stylish and is definitely a pocket/handbag-size phone, being very slim-line. The quality of the build is also nice and im my opinion the phone is not so flimsy as to feel plasticky or tacky.
As a basic phone I am very pleased with the C170, it has sufficiently long battery life and texting and calling is very easy.
The wallpapers are basic but also sufficient and the display is clear and easy to use.
You can store only a name and number in the phonebook (I have been used to storing other details on previous phones such as birthdays, email addresses etc.) and you cannot personalise rongtones or pictures to contacts etc. although this is perfect if you are looking for simplicity.
Practically my only complaint (although it really has started to aggravate me) is the lack of decent ringtones and message tones and the inability it seems to have of accepting downloads for new tones. There is a selection of 8 ringtones and 11 message tones all of which are extremely basic and in my opinion highly annoying. The samsung website itself does not support ringtone downloads to this model which is aggravating and apparantly one needs to create a personal WAP site to download content from (although this is just something I have noticed in forums and I don't understand how this is actually done - hence my anoyance at my limited ringtones)
The phone does not come with a data cable for connecting it to a PC and as far as I am aware this is not possible.
Overall I am pleased with this phone and it definitely fulfills my needs despite the slightly embarrasing selection of tones.
