Measuring a slim 99 mm x 47.1 mm x 14.8 mm and weighing approximately 97 grams, the 2680 Slide is another low-level entry phone from Nokia. The 2680 is Nokia’s first mobile phone of a slide-opening mechanism created for users who want the basic functionalities, Internet connection and a little bit of entertainment to cater to diverse facets of users’ needs.

While simple and smart-looking, the Nokia 2680 Slide is nonetheless fashionable. It comes in modern colours for users to choose from, including slate gray, night blue, orange and violet.

Mainly, its user interface is characterized by handy shortcut keypads that give its user more convenient access to his or her favourite applications. The buttons of the Nokia 2680 Slide come in a five-way scroll system with two soft keys. Its display screen – which is of 128 x 160-pixel resolution and supports 65,000 colours – may come in active standby. Users may also opt for a wide range of wallpapers and screensavers to choose from and download for a more personal touch on the Nokia 2680 Slide.

The Nokia 2680 Slide operates on a 2G Network under GSMs 900/1800 and 850 / 1900.This dualband handset has a built-in memory of 32 Megabytes, and supports SMS, multimedia messaging and email. The Internet is easily accessible using the Nokia 2680 Slide’s xHTML WAP 2.0 Web browser. Its Li-Ion 860 mAh, BL-4S battery allows a maximum of standby time of 400 hours, or up to three hours and 30 minutes worth of talk time.

Pictures and videos captured using the Nokia 2680 Slide may be shared using MMS feature. The mobile phone also supports a Bluetooth 2.0-compatible interface for sharing the images and other files. Using the Web browser in the Nokia 2680 Slide, the photo or video files may also be uploaded. Synchronising the device with compatible computers and other devices allows its users to access images, contacts and calendar entries. The Nokia 2680 Slide has a GPRS Internet connection featuring Multi-slot class 10, and an EGPRS system of Multi-slot class 6. Its email feature works on POP3/IMAP/SMTP systems.

Though it impresses primarily as a utilitarian mobile phone, the Nokia 2680 Slide has an MP3 player for its users’ enjoyment. The handset supports polyphonic and MP3 ringtones. Additionally, the mobile phone may be used as a handy recorder to record a user’s favourite tracks. The Nokia 2680 Slide also comes with a built-in FM radio which is region dependent. Notably, the mobile phone was created with the DARP technology in an effort to achieve enhanced usage efficiency in radio network.
