Nokia 7373 Review - Editor's Review
The Nokia 7373 belongs to one of the most beautiful and coolest mobile phone collections in the market today - the Nokia L’Amour series. With its remarkably eye-catching designs, embossed finishing, and striking colours, the Nokia 7373 is a true mobile phone sensation. Users can choose either the Bronze Black or the Powder Pink colours. The former is designed specifically for women, while the latter, which has more mannish graphical user interface, for men
The Nokia 7373 is the improved version of the Nokia 7370. One of the many enhancements the mobile phone has is its integration of the MicroSD memory slot. Users can now extend the phone’s memory to a maximum of 2 Gigabytes. This roughly translates to more audio, video and photo files.
However, it still integrated the previous model’s swivel system and 2-inch high display resolution, which has 262,144 colours in 240 by 320 pixels. With 88 x 43 x 23 mm in size and weighing only 104 grams, the Nokia 7373 is very portable. However, some users complain that when their unit is closed, it can be very bulky. The mobile phone can be opened by rotating its keypad 180 degrees sideways. This feature, as commented by many of its pleased users, is the phone’s main attention-grabber.
Nokia 7373’s other attractive aspects include the fabric label on its left side and the leatherette finish on its rear. It also features the S40 graphical user interface and full screen viewfinder.
The mobile phone has a 2 megapixel camera, which is perfect for taking outside pictures. Focusing on targeted pictures can be applied using Nokia 7373’s 8x digital zoom. The Nokia 7373 camera has a bowl-shaped mirror ideal for taking self-portrait pictures. The camera also functions as a video recording device for 3GPP streaming.
When it comes to playing music, the Nokia 7373 can be perfect. It can play WMA, AAC, eAAC+, AAC+, M4A and MP3 audio formats. Moreover, the phone also has an integrated FM radio which produces excellent audio quality. Its speaker system is replicated with a 3D sound. However, the Nokia 7373’s most stunning audio feature is its stereo headset.
As expected, the Nokia 7373 has all the high-end features. These include an integrated
Internet and USB connectivity, Java-based games, Bluetooth, true-grade MP3 ringtones and a speakerphone.
Aside from the usual MP3 ringtones, this model also supports the video ringtone system. When a call is received by the user, a video will play on Nokia 7373’s screen.
Sending and receiving all types of messaging system is a breeze with the Nokia 7373. It supports email, MMS and SMS messages. The Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging technology is also integrated into the Nokia 7373. When emailing, users can attach almost all file types – PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Nokia 3GP and JPEG.
Nokia 7373 offers several connectivity features, which include the EDGE, GPRS and WAP 2.0 technologies. It supports GSM triband in 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz.
As an entertainment mobile phone, the Nokia 7373 stores several Java games. These include Music Guess, Snake and Soduku. Users can also download games using the phone’s xHTML (TCP/IP) internet browser.
This model also comes with its own personal information management (PIM). It offers the calendar, alarm clock, calculator and stopwatch tools.
Close to being perfect, the Nokia 7373 has several flaws. Its battery life is mediocre, which can range only 2.5 hours talk time and 250 hours standby time. Another disappointment the mobile phone has is that it has no LED camera flash, which can be very perfect for taking low-lighted pictures.
Although Nokia 7373’s “flick, rotate and swivel” design is a sure head turner, it is not practical. Several users stated that it is gauche to use. Moreover, when a text message or a call comes in, users will still have to open the phone to answer. There is / are no button/s present in the front display for quick access to SMS messages and phone calls.
Though it has a top-notch headset audio quality, users can only create one playlist. Also, when compared to the Motorola Razr collections, the Nokia 7373’s built-in speaker performed poorly. Its sound is not loud enough and the audio too metallic.

I was drawn to the Nokia 7373 for its style and colour; the twist to open design is modern and fun, and it is covered with a beautiful pattern, which extends to the protective leather pouch that comes with it. I would say that it is definitely aimed at women from its appearance but has a range of functions to meet many needs. There are better phones out there, which specialise in high quality sound or fast internet access, but the 7373 handset is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a phone that does a bit of everything and comes in a pretty pink.
