Flaunting its distinctive and sleek design consisting of geometrical diamond-cut patterns and effects that create external lights, the Nokia 7070 Prism is a standout in its appearance.
The Nokia 7070 Prism operates as a clamshell handset that is purported to largely appeal to users who prefer mobile phones that effectively reflect and exude their youthful, hip personalities. It is a slim and lightweight mobile phone measuring 87.5 x 44 x 15.8 millimeters in size. It tips the scale at 78 g, inclusive of its battery.
Users may opt to have the Nokia 7070 Prism in colours black, accented by pink; or black with blue accent. The Nokia 7070 Prism displays roughly 65,000 graphical colours on its TFT screen, with a 128 x 160-pixel resolution.
The Nokia 7070 Prism has striking physical similarities with its fashion phone counterparts -- the Nokia 7900 and Nokia 7500. In fact, the 7070 is the third in the lineup of stylish handsets under Nokia's Prism collection.
The Nokia 7070 Prism boasts of personalized content, embracing customized wallpapers, themes and 24 polyphonic ringtones. It also supports downloading of polyphonic ringtones in MP3 formats. It can store data and files of up to 11 Megabytes. The Nokia 7070 Prism offers the services of SMS and multimedia messaging.
The mobile phone houses features that are deemed to be basic essentials for users, such as a voice recorder, an option for vibration and an integrated handsfree speaker for ease of use -- each contributing to the handset's physical attractiveness. Users may take advantage of the Nokia 7070 Prism's built-in office and organisation tools, such as the 1000-entry phone book, a currency converter, an alarm clock, a calendar, a calculator and a light indicator. Additionally, the Nokia 7070 Prism is audio messaging-enabled, courtesy of Nokia Xpress.
The Nokia 7070 Prism operates on GSM 900 and GSM 1800 networks. It is also powered by GPRS for purposes of more efficient Web browsing. Connecting to the Internet is supported by the mobile phone's built-in xHTML or WAP 2.0 Web browser. As such, the Nokia 7070 Prism offers the email client service.
The Nokia 7070 Prism, stylish as it may seem, does not miss out on the fun aspect that most modernist mobile phones adopt. It supports Java games in Java MIDP v2.0 that users can opt to download to the handset.
The mobile phone works on Li-Ion Amp 700 mAh standard battery. It has a standby time of around 480 hours, or an approximate equivalent of five hours of talk time. Most users have attested that its battery can last up to a maximum of twenty days.
Users have found the Nokia 7070 Prism's design to be very sleek and modern, citing every aspect of the phone to surely stand out. To these avid Nokia 7070 Prism owners, the mobile phone's design is its strength. According to some user reviews, the user interface of Nokia 7070 Prism is pretty simple too, making it an ideal first mobile phone, particularly for less technologically inclined customers. Still others admit to appreciate the Nokia 7070 Prism for its simple and basic features that focus mainly on standard functionality, minus the perks that some find too pompous.
Dissatisfied Nokia 7070 Prism owners lament, however, that the mobile phone's features should have been as impressive as its looks. For one, the seemingly futuristic mobile phone does not house a camera, which some say, was fully expected of the handset. Furthermore, the Nokia 7070 Prism lacks a music player for better enjoyment of the music-digging crowd. Some owners have also suggested that the Nokia 7070 Prism should have been pre-installed with a camera or better yet, a camcorder. The mobile phone also does not support any version of Bluetooth, USB or Infrared, limiting file or data sharing among its owners. One user has found its internal memory of 11 MB to be too limited as well, and could have been expanded by a memory card slot.
In the overall, users aver that while the Nokia 7070 Prism's design does not suit everyone's taste, it has a knockout appearance that is close to perfect, but that its features make it too mundane for its looks.
