The Nokia 3120 classic is a simple-designed handset that offers the basic essentials for convenient use of its owners. The mobile phone is handy at the size of 111 x 45 x 13 millimeters. It is also lightweight and compact at approximately 85 grams in weight. To match their personalities, users may opt to have their Nokia 3120 Classic in sharp colours graphite, chestnut brown, plum or powder white and deep red. The user interface of the Nokia 3120 Classic is S40-programmed.

Nokia created the 3120 Classic with a TFT QVGA display screen that supports up to 16,000,000 colours. It flaunts a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The mobile phone has built in ringtones and supports customized download in polyphonic and MP3 audio formats.

The Nokia 3120 Classic's pre-installed content is considerably rich, most positive reviews say. It has messaging services that include SMS, multimedia messaging, instant messaging and supports email through POP3/IMAP/SMTP. The Nokia 3120 Classic has a built-in memory of 24 Megabytes for storage of data and files. Users may opt to expand the memory storage through the microSD or the TransFlash card. The Nokia 3120 Classic also has voice dialing, speaker phone, push-to-talk, speaker phone and voice recording features.

While it is practical, the Nokia 3120 Classic does not confine itself to calling and texting services. Fun and entertainment will be captured with the Nokia 3120 Classic's 2-Megapixel camera with an LED flash that shoots photos in 1600 × 1200 pixels. Its camera has a 4x zoom that also comes an auto focus. The Nokia 3120 Classic also has a secondary video call device which enables video recording and video playback. This supports H.264, H263 and MPEG4 formats.

The Nokia 3120 Classic has an integrated FM radio for users to tune in for their well-liked radio stations and listen to their favourite tracks. Others also say that the camera and video features create image outputs in unimpressive quality. Still others say that while the Nokia 3120 Classic does have a good battery, its cover latch creates quite a discomfort for its users. Moreover, its memory card slot is located under this cover, making it impossible to expand the memory of the mobile phone without tinkering the battery area. Backlighting on its display screen and keypads, according to some unsatisfied users, easily goes weak.
