About Pre Pay Mobile Phones

Pre pay or pay as you go mobile phones are handsets that are purchased locked to a specific network, but without a monthly contract. That means upon purchase you are not committed to any line rental charges or in fact any future costs at all.

When you buy a pay as you go phone, you are usually required to purchase a 'top-up' card that gives you a certain value of calling credit. However, you can also use credit or debit cards to purchase calling credit.

There are a number of advantages to pay as you go deals. You don't need to pass a credit check to get the offer (unlike pay monthly contracts), and you only pay for the per minute or per text charges you incur, with no line rental fees. On the other hand, if you use your phone a lot of the time, it can be more expensive than contract deals.
