Well, a phone needs to be stylish and it should also feel great when you hold it. Of course in most cases people feel a rubbery finish for better grip. Lastly, sound should be impeccable, especially for those mobile phones, which have built-in FM radio, and of course, for calling.

Sony Ericsson is a company popular for producing the Walkman phone and the Cybershot series of mobiles. The Sony Ericsson J110i is another one of their amazing creations. Announced in February 2007, the phone is still available on the market today in two versions, one of which is compatible with the US network. Weighing only 79 grams, it is sleek and small at 99x44x17 mm. It displays 65K colors and the screen size is 96x64 pixels and it uses STN technology. To meet the needs of the fashion conscious populace, the phone comes in three colors - smooth grey, soft cream and precious purple.

Its polyphonic ringtones are also customizable through internet download. If you need to go on a conference, and put your phone on silent mode but you still wish to be alerted of calls and messages, then you can opt to turn the phone on vibrate mode. The phone holds up to 200 names, and its call records can keep 10 dialed, 20 received and missed calls. Now you can store more of your friends and family's numbers without worrying about erasing some from your SIM card!

Just like any basic phone, the Sony Ericsson J110i has excellent SMS and EMS capabilities. With T9 feature, texting is made so much easier. Aside from this, you can now create long messages without having to go through several menus to compose your message! For people who need phones to help them organize their day, SE J110i offers a calculator and reminders. It also has a built in hands free capability so you can use it to take calls even when you are driving. Perhaps the phone's best feature is its long battery life at 400 hours standby time and 9 hours talk time, you don't have to worry about that trip to grandma's house since the phone can last around 5 days even when you get a lot of calls!

For those who have poor eyesight you'd be happy to know that the phone's is easy to navigate with single click icons. Now it has largest text and larger icons for enhanced readability.

If you want to add more to the collection, you can download from the internet and transfer it to the phone using USB cable. The phone is also capable of conference calls so you can now talk to several people at the same time without having to explain the same things over and over. The phone comes with a fast port connectivity which allows users to connect the headset, charger and other accessories.

The biggest disadvantage of the J110i is that it doesn't have internet capabilities so this is certainly not the best phone for people on the go. Aside from this, most phone users don't really have any other complaints, especially for those who are into simple phones. Of course for those who are tech savvy, the phone needs a lot of improvements. For one, it doesn't have basic MMS features so despite its colored screen; you cannot send and receive images. It doesn't have an integrated camera so unfortunately, you'll need to buy a separate digital camera. If you are into music, then again, you'll need to buy an MP3 player since this phone has no media playback feature.

In sum, the Sony Ericsson J110i is more than the average basic phone. Its capability could've been enhanced if it had expandable memory such as what most modern Sony Ericsson has. Unlike Nokia phones, however, Sony Ericsson J110i does not experience hang ups so you can be assured that the phone is reliable every single time.
