Glossy and classy, the U600 is part of Samsung's sleek Ultra Edition II collection, which members include the Samsung U100 version 5.9, the Samsung U3 version 9.6 and the version Samsung U700 12.1. The Samsung U600 can be acquired in an array of vibrant shades, which include garnet red, sapphire blue, copper, gold and platinum metal colours. Even when in frequent travels, users will enjoy the Samsung U600, as it is a quad-band handset that covers GSMs 1900, 1800, 900 and 850, depending on the mobile phone user's network provider.

The Samsung U600 operates as a sliding mobile phone that is widely reputed for being slim at 103.5 x 49.3 x 10.9 millimetres, and very light and handy at only 81 grams. To reveal a contemporary look, the Samsung created its U600's keypad with a metal-etched design. When the sliding mechanism of the Samsung U600 is in a closed position, users can utilize the handset's navigation tool and a set of externally located selection keys.

Quality viewing is offered by the 55.8-millimetre LCD screen of the Samsung U600. With a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, the Samsung U600's colour display is illuminated by roughly 262,000 colours. To make the mobile phone more personalised, users may use screensavers and wallpapers. Pre-installed or downloaded MP3 and polyphonic ring tones may also be integrated onto the Samsung U600.

Convenient transfers to compatible devices are offered by the Samsung U600's wireless Bluetooth support. The mobile phone also has a USB option for data transfers in reliable cable connection. The mobile phone is complete with the EDGE technology which ensures high-speed transfers. As a modern handset, the Samsung U600 also offers its users an enjoyable Internet experience with its WAP 2.0 XHTML Web browser.

The Samsung U600 has easy-to-use messaging services including text or SMS, enhanced messaging or EMS, as well as multimedia messaging or MMS for more fun-filled communication. Inputting text messages is easier with the Samsung U600's predictive text support. Additionally, users of the Samsung U600 will find the handset useful as it can function as an on-the-go computer, offering an on-device email service.

Topping the Samsung U600's rich features is its built-in digital camera that allows on-the-go handset users to take capture-worthy memories anytime. The Samsung U600's 3.2-Megapixel camera assures quality still photograph outputs with its auto focus, flash and digital zoom features.

There is more to the Samsung U600's integrated digital camera than merely supporting quality still snapshots, as it also allows video footages. Moreover, users can adjust the photo and video settings of the Samsung U600 to ensure a perfect finish for still pictures and videos.

The Samsung U600 can pass for a stand-alone music player as it allows users to experience quality tunes from their handset. The Samsung U600's music player supports practically all popular audio formats, including WMA, MP3, WMA, eAAC and AAC. However, the Samsung U600 does not end with giving users optimum listening enjoyment. The handset also assists music lovers in organising their tracks with its music management system. The Samsung U600's audio support is reinforced by a built-in FM radio through which users can listen to their well-loved tracks on-air.

To keep business-oriented users organised, the Samsung U600 offers a host of features for practical use, such as a to-do reminder, a calendar, and a clock that reflects world time. Additionally, the Samsung U600 can function as a mobile stopwatch, a timer, an alarm, a currency converter and a handy calculator. As extra features, the mobile phone also comes with a caller ID, a voice memo and a vibration alert option.

The Samsung U600 further emphasizes its support for entertainment and fun with its embedded games in Java, among other formats. Gamers may also download online games to the mobile phone.

For data, photos or videos that need to be stored instantly, the Samsung U600 is built-in with 60 Megabytes of internal memory. The handset's internal storage capacity can be further expanded with a MicroSD type of memory card. Also, the handset offers its users talk time of 3.5 hours, and standby time of up to 240 hours.

Users attest that while the Samsung U600 essentially works as it promises, its outright downside is its camera's flash which does not provide enough light especially in very dark environments.

I have had this phone for 20 months until it died a few days back. Then again that does not surprise me in the least. I have dropped this phone at least 15 times since I have bought it from varying heights onto concrete, carpets...you name it! now unfortunately the speaker has died!

I used to be a bit dubious about Samsung products but this phone has changed my mind. This was a wonderful phone, the only niggly thing is the touch sensitive buttons for making and ending calls but you get used to it your friends might need telling if you let them borrow it...they might ring the wrong person!

Other than that its so easy to use, very stylish and probably still is the Worlds thinnest sliding phone and yet it has mp3 player, radio internet, (not 3g mind) and stores in excess of 500 texts. Its also very easy too to transfer data from pc to phone no software is needed for both windows and linux users. Just the usb cable that comes with the phone. Would have given the phone 10/10 if it were not for the fact the speaker has blown! but you mustnt forget I gave it 20 months of good hard use from it.

Great Phone!

This phone is the worst mobile unit I have ever owned. It has been back to Samsung 3 times, all the problems everybody else on this baord has experienced. Now Samsung are trying to tell me the unit is a non Uk spec model so they wont repair it even though they have done so before!! And it was supplied by O2 in the UK!! What a load of rubbish. Samsung`s after care service is quite god but they ave an attitude problem, probably because they are over loaded with irate unhappy customers!! Service 1/10 , support 0/10 , quality of good -10/10

Ok, so i love Samsung mobile's and have had quite a few in the past without problems. But after 5 days f owning the U600 already have major issues with this mobile. Sure the touch sensitive keys are a little annoying, but lets face it, if you dont like touch sensitive buttons and dont have alot of patience then this mobile is not for you! First day i had this phone the creen froze and speaker was buzzing a constant noise until i re-booted, I seem to be havingall the same faults occurring to me as the people wriing here also. This is not a "One off bad batch" by samsung, the U600 is simply a cheap failure and a nightmare to own and use. Sure it looks sleek and sexy and has all the wow factor of a modern mobile, and if phone calls and sms is what you need this mobile for, then it even fails to carry out these simple tasks successfuly with ease. Should you spend your hard earned cash on a U600? Absolutely not. People, you have been warned... Spend a little more and buy some well thought quality. Samsung DO make good mobiles, but unfortunately NOT this one! The U600 is a disaster in every way.

The features of this phone are great! But the build quality is absolutely terrible. The first samsung I bought and will be the last! I always look after my phones and have phones going back to the early nokia 32 series and they all still work and look great. This piece of trash lasted me less than a month, then all of a sudden, the screen split in half. Dont buy one!

I have had my U600 for just over a month, my screen keeps turning itself upside down, or back to front or just going blank. I got the phone as a birthday present thankfully my parents took out insurance and i have a garantee however i advise anyone who wants to buy this phone not to as it's not worth the money you pay for it.

Great phone, really nice design, but just not built to last! The screen cracked very eaisly, then, after just two months of ownership, the most fundamental part of any phone (the speaker) stops working. OMG, everything else works, but not the speaker! So frustrating. So, I take the thing apart, and discover a horrid construction. Everything's so small and delicate and covered in sticky tape it's a wonder it works at all. The way that the switch works for the slide is very crude, and the ribbon cable connecting the screen is extremely thin and actually rubs against the metal LCD surround, which I believe caused mine to split. I'm going to try and repair this phone with a new ribbon cable and install some kind of foam to protect it. If I get problems after that then it's going in the bin and I'll be very reluctant to try Samsung again! Shame.

I've had this phone for 16 months and not had any problems with it until recently. It has just started to flip everything back to front or upside down which is really annoying when trying to write or read texts. I must admit i do use my phone constantly for texting so i am suprised it has lasted this long, but as i am on an 18 month contract i am trying to hang out for another couple of months before i get it replaced. Has any one else had the problem of "flipping text"? What did you do about it? Other than this recent problem my phone had been very good and i was very impressed with it!

I have never had such an annoying mobile. Now after 14 months of stuggling with it, it is freezing all the time when I'm texting and seems to have lost the capability to store words in T9, having lost all the ones I previously put in it. Useless customer service at T-Mobile and Samsung as they are not really willing to help and hardly seem to believe you when you say what's wrong. A few days ago I was promised an envelope in the post from Samsung to send the phone back. It hasn't arrived yet. Also, they said it'll take up to 28 days to fix and I haven't been offered a loan phone. Considering I have an 18 month contract I think it's a cheek. If you rent something you normally get it repaired for free. I think it's such poor service and so frustrating. I would have gone for a Nokia but was kind of pushed into taking the U600 and it does look and feel lovely but that's about it's only good points.

My screen flickers, freezes, turns it self of flashes all the colours of the rainbow and eventually turned black and was unusable.I feel that it should have been recalled. Getting your money back for this phone seems to be more or less impossible.

This phone is terrible and the Orange/Samsung service is even worse. It first started cutting out back in Feb and I got it fixed under the warranty, so it was fine for a bit, but then it began flipping the picture 6 weeks ago and cutting out, changing colour, etc. the works. Orange couldn't offer me a loan phone (all their grand total of 3 loan phones were out) so even for their extortionate £15 fee for fixing my broken phone I couldn't even have a phone. At all. The only option, acording to them, is to have an expensive upgrade or buy a new pay-as-you-go phone! For a problem that has nothing to do with me and that they fixed before! This phone is junk. I'm getting in touch with Trading Standards as it's clearly not fit for purpose. If I could give it a lower score than 1 I would do. Don't buy this phone. It's worse than useless.

I have had this phone 21 months now...took a second contract for 18 months after first year contract ran out. I hate to say it, but a couple of months back it started freezing as i was ringing someone, then it froze when sending texts. Recently it's just started to play up on calls now, think it's the slide action that's gone with it now! I can ring out and listen to people on other end if i hold the slide half way down the key pad with my finger! Otherwise i hear nothing, and they just hear me talking. Not insured as don't get a like for like phone! I won't be getting another one of these now. I was happy with it at first, but all these reviews just goes to show there is problems with the phone.

I have had this phone for over a year and i have never had any problems. It can be annoying as its very easy to call someone by mistake as the phone is so sensitive. Its also so so difficult to put the phone on loud speaker when driving that its not even worth risking trying. theres no function so you can answer it and its straightaway on loud speaker not that i know of anyway?

Another thing i dont like is why doesnt the phone tell you the time and date you sent a message? this isnt displayed on sent items .

I got my u600 as a birthday gift just under a year back. It was working perfectly well until a few months back. The phone kept on freezing. The sound went...couldn't hear people when they called. Now the screen goes multi-coloured/blacks out. It even switches on/off by itself. I am fed up with the phone but I don't want to repair it if it'll cost a fortune. I have given it a 2/10 because I LOVE THIS PHONE because it was a gift. But it doesn't even last for a year. I think I will be sticking to Nokia's from now on! DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!
