My Orange Berlin went in the wash and came out fine apart from a few drops of water in the camera screen. It was fine untill a few weeks later when now, if I try to take a picture it goes blank and says 'camera initital failed'.

Got this for Christmas last year on line. Worked reasonably well but took ages from switching on to being usable.Problem came in august when screen went blank on opening making it impossible to ring out. Orange said not our problem it's out of the six month warranty. Contact the manufacturer Berlin on a number they gave us. Number not recognised. Orange still insist it's not their problem. I will not be buying another I can assur you.

Like yourselves, I bought an Orange Berlin for my little boy for his birthday, the phone seems to work OK, but his pet rabbit has eaten through the charging cable! I have tried to get a replacement from virtually everywhere (including Orange) but cannot. Although the socket is a mini USB and you would think that any charger could do the job, no...it cannot, it has to be THE EXACT charger that came with the phone (at 600mA). So bewarned, if the charger goes, so does your phone.

If you're thinking of buying an Orange Berlin on PAYG please read my experience as below and avoid Orange altogether.
I bought my first (of three) Orange Berlin through Orange UK, worked fine for about a week and then screen just displayed incorrect u(sim)and the phone wouldn't work even with other orange sim cards. After hours of nonsense calls to Orange Customer Services in India they finally admitted that the phone was faulty and sent a replacement.
The second phone worked fine for around 2 weeks and then as before incorrect u(sim) suddendly appeared on the screen and yet again I was without a phone.
Again I phoned the helpline for an age of robotic nonsense before they again admitted that phone was faulty, I was reluctant to have another but they assured me that if the third handset developed the same fault then they would replace it for a different handset.
Not surprisingly the third handset did then develop the same fault after around two weeks. I was messed around massively by Orange helplines and after five attempts when i was just promised to be helped i was simply put on hold forever or cut off.
I then sent and email (received but ignored) and sent a letter to Orange Bristol (neither acknowledged or replied to)so am still left with a faulty handset and I am a £30+ per month Orange contract customer for the last 3 yrs.
My contract is now up and Orange won't see me for dust.
What is totally laughable is their slogan that they are committed to customer satisfaction.
I think not!
Orange and Orange Berlin, proceed with caution.

I would firstly like to say that should anyone be considering buying an Orange Berlin and using it for anything other than texts and calls, then think again. I would also recommend that they buy it from anywhere else other than through the Orange website. Infact don`t buy it at all. There are plenty of other cheap mobiles out there that are basically better and you won`t have to beat your head against a brick wall every time you have a problem and have to phone customer services at Orange. Big waste of time. I bought mine in May and regret my decision. It seemed like a good deal at the time on paper. My main gripe is that i can`t download any games on it, even the 2 trial games that are on it. When i first phoned them and told them about my problem, they said they would ring me back and never did. Phoned again and was told in the end that i should buy an SD card to boost the phone`s memory capacity as games use alot of memory. Rubbish. That hasn`t helped at all. Phoned them back and went through it all again and was told to go on the internet and check what games were compatible with it and the web address they gave was www.amoi.com. That is a load of nonsence as that website has nothing to do with games compatibility. Have e-mailed them several times aswell but they don`t respond. Infact if you go on the Orange website on games downloads, it doesn`t even list the Orange Berlin and i have told them this but still no joy. Don`t buy it in the first place is the motto of the story.

I brought a Berlin Phone on Thursday of this week for my son who always seems to loose of break any phone going. I have had nothing but great news from him in that it is easy to use, he can send receive texts, phones and has put his memory card in and can get all the songs he wants. Its loud, the camera excellent and hes as happy as larry - may it continue cause if hes happy i'm happy.

Well, where to start. My first Orange Berlin I ordered from Orange online. When it arrived I phoned Orange for help in setting up my email account. The first problem was that the person I spoke to had never heard of the phone, nor could she find it at first on their system. (This experience of finding that Orange staff are unaware of the existence of the Berlin has been repeated each time I have rung with queries.) When she did find it, there were no settings for email listed, so she eventually passed me over to her supervisor who spent some time trying to help me set email up on the phone, but without success. Eventually I came to the conclusion there was something wrong with the phone and sent it back for a refund. However, as I liked the look of the Berlin I went to my local Orange shop to buy another one. That was my first mistake. Having had an email account set up for me by the Orange Shop assistant, I thought all would be well, and I was indeed able to receive emails. (Incidentally, although the phone has an email client, Orange's set-up web site does not include the phone in its list of phones that do have such a client, even though it's their own make.) However, although most emails were received correctly, those from certain sources (eg Google Mail and Tesco) were not received in their entirety; only the headings were received, not the body of the message.

When I started to install the software CD that comes with the phone, a warning from Microsoft appeared stating that the software I was installing had not passed the Windows Logo test and continuing might impair or destabilize my system. It recommended that I stop the installation. I ignored this warning, and a second one I received, thinking that coming from a reputable company like Orange it had to be OK. That was my second mistake, as not long afterwards I found Internet Explorer was freezing when a new tab was opened. So I uninstalled the software.

The phone has a number of status icons including a loudspeaker which, according to the user manual, changes to a loudspeaker with a line through it when the phone is set to "silent" ring style. On my phone this does not happen so there is no quick way of ascertaining whether the phone will ring or not. The user guide also says you can switch quickly between "normal" and "meeting" profiles by holding down the * key; in fact this switches between "normal" and "vibrate". Also it is not possible to check the delivery status of a sent text message; the menu option ("details") which is referred to in the user guide does not appear on the phone. When I phoned Orange to query this, they said they would send me a text which would put this right. I was to read the text, delete it, open the phone, remove the battery, wait a few seconds and then replace the battery. I did all this but it made no difference.

Another problem is the battery, which does not hold its charge for very long. Sometimes it discharges after about 12 hours even with minimal use. I contacted my Orange Shop and asked if I could have a replacement battery, but they said no: I would have to let them send the phone away for checking. They would loan me another phone in the mean time, but I would have to give them a £50 (returnable) deposit.

Finally, a more general point is that the Orange coverage as claimed on the website is not reliable. My postcode indicates "good" 3G coverage and "very good" 2G. In fact a lot of the time there are no bars shown at all and I can't even receive text messages.
