Nokia 6111 Review - Editor's Review
Nokia 6111 is another sliding phone which is elegantly styled and is available is black and silver. It is considered as a mid-level phone and was first released in 2005 in the areas of Asia, Europe, Australia and Brazil. At 84 mm by 47 mm by 23 mm, it weighs about 92 grams and is small enough to fit a child’s hands. It is relatively light and perfect for people on the go. Its casing is also made of plastic and is pretty durable and it could endure several drops.
It is a TFT or a Thin Film Transistor phone with 256K colors with a display size of 128 by 160 pixels and the screen area is 29mm by 35 mm. This is definitely an improvement with the CTSN models. With excellent backlight, its screen can be seen without trouble even in poor lighting conditions. With a 5-way navi-key, the phone is still as user friendly as any Nokia phone released in the market. It has downloadable themes, and built-in polyphonic tones for message and alert phones. You can also download MP3 which you can listen to with the excellent stereo sound, so you can enjoy the music with or without a headset. Aside from its built-in media player, Nokia 6111 also has an FM radio which has excellent reception. Unfortunately, you need to have a headset connected in order to use this feature.
For business people, organizing is so much easier with the 6111’s large phonebook memory. It could store up to 10 dialed numbers, 10 calls missed and 10 calls received in its call records. The phone has 23 MB shared memory but it lacks expandable memory, which most users mention as its biggest disadvantage. The limit in memory also causes phone hang ups especially when there’s just too much messages stored on the phone so you will need to delete these regularly. The good thing about Nokia 6111 is that its GPRS class 10 with speed of 32 to 48 kbps it has the one of the fastest GPRS connectivity. It can also be used as a modem with its HSCSD or the High Speed Circuit Switched Data with a 43.2 kbps speed, and EDGE or the Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution with 236.8 kbps.
Data sharing is now easier with its infrared port, USB and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. Of course, its basic phone functions are found to be in excellent state as most users report that they can send and receive messages through SMS. Or to make your messages more personal, you could send multimedia messages with its MMS. Of course, with its WAP 2.0/xHTML browser, the Nokia 6111 can also retrieve emails from preconfigured servers. It also has an interesting collection of games like 4-Champ Rally 3D, Golf Tour, Backgammon II, and Solitaire, which you can play to pass the time. The good thing about this phone is that it has an integrated camera packed with a power of 1 megapixel or 1152 by 864 pixels with flash, a feature which older models lack. It can also record short videos, which are intended for personalized MMS. Add to this is the push-to-talk service software built-in with the phone, a voice dial or voice memo activation, T9 text input, a calendar, and handsfree features. Its batteries could hold up to 192 hours when in standby and up to 3 hours and 10 minutes in talk time.
Despite these features, however, the Nokia 6111 also has its flaws. It has no expandable memory and its internal memory reaches up to 23 MB, which is pretty limited for a phone that has high grade features such as the megapixel camera. Because of its small memory, users experience hang ups in which they will need to reboot the phone in order to use it again. Other complaints also mention that the slide is not too functional since it doesn’t slide easily.
In summary, the Nokia 6111 is a good phone for calling and texting but it is lacking despite its many features. Its small internal memory actually limits the capability of the phone, not to mention that it can be inconvenient to use because of the slow phone response.

This phone is rubbish! With not even a memory-card slot then how are you suppost to store things ? I think its a good phone for people who arent bothered about how much storage they have. Also when i TRY to click on saved messages the screen goes BLANK !
