30 Aug 2008A creation of Nokia, the 2630 is a practical and incredibly slim- looking mobile phone, measuring 105 x 45 x 9.9 millimetres, and weighing very light at only 66 grams. Appearing with a bar design, the
Nokia 2630 comes with the thin film transistor or TFT screen that displays a maximum of 65,000 colours, and supports a 128 x 160 pixel-resolution.
The TFT external screen is large enough for quality viewing of picture wallpapers and screensavers using the Nokia 2630. The mobile phone offers users built-in selections of unique MP3 and 24-voice polyphonic ringing tones. Users of the Nokia 2630 can choose from these features to customize their mobile phone, and give it a more personalized touch.
The Nokia 2630 runs on dual band network, operating under GSM 1800 and GSM 900. Internet access is easy with the Nokia 2630 as it comes with a built-in WAP 2.0 XHTML Internet browser. Also, users can connect their mobile phone to compatible devices for the purpose of transferring files via the Bluetooth wireless connection, which is possible with the handset's dedicated connection ports. For speedier connection and file transfers, the Nokia 2630 is supported by the GPRS system.
The Nokia 2630 offers users with standard text and multimedia messaging services. Owing to the Internet connection it offers, the Nokia 2630 allows on-device instant messaging, as well as e-mail receiving and sending under SMTP, POP3 and IMP4 technologies. The messaging services of the Nokia 2630 are rather convenient with the message distribution list feature that may be utilized. The mobile phone also supports audio messaging, specifically through the exclusive Nokia Xpress.
The mobile phone also features a keypad that is spaced out well enough for better input of message and other information, as well as dedicated shortcut buttons for ease of use. For stress-free voice calls, the Nokia 2630 comes with a hands-free speaker.
As its primary audio feature, the Nokia 2630 houses an FM radio which comes with a single-touch access key. Through the integrated radio, users of the Nokia 2630 may opt to tune in and listen to their favourite tracks over their preferred music stations using the Nokia headset.
An on-device VGA camera allows Nokia 2630 users to take still snapshots as well as record, playback or stream moving footages. The mobile phone's integrated camera is characterized by a 4x zoom, allowing a closer focus on subjects. In addition, the VGA camera has a dedicated key for instant use. Using the Bluetooth technology, users of the Nokia 2630 can share their photos with others, which can be done among compatible devices.
The Nokia 2630 assists its busy users with its organiser features, consisting of a 1000-contact phonebook, a weekly and monthly calendar, an alarm clock, an analog and digital clock, a time tracker, an advanced calculator, a currency converter, a language support system and an expense manager.
While highly practical, the Nokia 2630 has preloaded or embedded games that also make the mobile phone an entertainment-packed handset. Similarly, it supports the downloading of games in Java format from the Web.
The Nokia 2630 comes with 11 Megabytes of built-in or internal memory which provides its user storage capacity for various messages, contacts details, photographs or moving footages or videos. When fully charged, users can expect the Nokia 2630 to offer up to 6 hours in talk time. In the same manner, the mobile phone can last on standby mode of up to 312 hours.
While it is a simple and highly functional mobile phone, some users say that the Nokia 2630 would do better with more storage capacity than its 11-Megabyte memory cap, perhaps through an extra slot for a memory card or memory stick. Also, its dual band technology may prove less functional, especially for frequently roaming users. There are also users who lament that, while the FM radio may be useful, the Nokia 2630 lacks a music player of its own. Some have also observed some problems with the mobile phone seemingly crashing whenever there are calls that are missed.
Nevertheless, satisfied users applaud the practicality of Nokia 2630 users. Business-focused owners of the mobile phone find the handset highly useful, without an entire frizz of needless or impractical features that, according to them, almost always characterize modern mobile phones.

I bought this phone 9 months ago. First the screen started to get black dots I took it back after a week away I got it back with a software upgrade. If i turn the phone off it loses it memory, tone settings screen settings. The key board lock often fails, loads of in pocket photos and embarrassment when my phone answered a call in my pocket without me being aware it was too quiet in a busy bar. I cannot send or receive pictures at all which is why I bought it. The battery does not last long either.

I bought this phone from Tesco mobile (o2 in disguise) and have had a couple of major problems with it. It locks whenever there is a missed call and the battery life is awful, generally less than a week even when it is only used to send a couple of texts a day! Avoid like the plague if you are on O2 or Tesco Mobile.

I just successfully connected to the Internet via 2630!! hurray..
I purchased a bluetooth adapter today (3$, here in New Delhi, India) and it came with a software/driver from Bluesolei (bluesoleil.com). After I installed the whole mini CD, I noticed a "Bluetooth DUN Connection" setup automatically, like a typical dialup connection. No login/pas required; the default no. in the dial field is: *99***1# ..
Also I can do all file transfers, etc from teh phoen to pc.. thru this bluetooth device..
Since my mobile connection has already GPRS activated, after I clicked the "Bluetooth DUN Connection" and connected to the net.
Though the speed is very very slow.. BUT Hey who cares....
