Nokia 1200 has a monochrome display of 96x68 pixels, reminiscent of another trendy mobile handset - the classic Nokia 6310i. In comparison with most budget mobile phones with screens that are either seemingly washed out or blurry, the Nokia's 1200 crisp mono screen display is a refresher.
But Nokia 1200 is not limited to just plain text messaging and voice calls. Three games are pre-installed on the Nokia 1200 as an entertainment feature. It also has a usable built-in flashlight on top of the device, on which an LED light is nestled. The 1200 model also has MP3 format-supporting ringtones and a call manager found in the menu that helps users keep track of costs they incur from time to time, through a call duration log and a text message counter.
A lightweight mobile phone at only 77 grams in weight and measuring only 102 x 44 x 18mm, the Nokia 1200 impressively has a longer battery life, allowing a maximum of 7 hours of talk time. It also has a standby battery time of at least two weeks and up to 16 days when fully charged. Users may opt for either the Nokia 1200 900/1800 MHz or 850/1900 MHz, which are its dual-band versions. Its internal memory can store data of up to is at 4 Megabytes.
Simply built for practical use, the Nokia 1200's layout is stylishly clear. Particularly, Nokia created the so-called "all-in-one" keypad, instead of the more common individual keys, in its 1200 model. As a result, dust or dirt do not build up underneath, as they would do on single-key layout on most mobile phones. This feature makes the Nokia 1200 a low-maintenance handset in general, as its keypad is created to be dust-resistant, thereby protecting the handset's internal electronics.
To say the least, users will appreciate the Nokia 1200 for its utmost simplicity. Tech novices will find this phone amazing and sensible - giving them what they want with it, simple and straight. It also guarantees comfort and quick familiarization for technophobes.
For one, sending text messages or making calls is quick and easy with the Nokia 1200. For a relatively cheap mobile phone, the 1200's quality in terms of voice calls is remarkably clean and crisp. Additionally, the Nokia 1200 does not have signal-related issues, even in places where coverage is not as ideal.
While it is all the while practical and simple, some downsides have been reported of the Nokia 1200. Its mono screen is fairy readable, but can be too small or with a resolution that is too low for some users. Because of this, the screen displays only about nine words or three lines at a time in an entire text message. This poses a striking disadvantage for a longer text message, as the user will have to do a lot of scrolling to read it in its entirety.
Others would have preferred the Nokia 1200 to come with a built-in camera, expandable memory, support for Bluetooth, MP3 player or FM radio, and compatibility with Java applications. It does not come with a hands-free kit either, some users lament. Others, however, will argue that these missing features and unmet expectations are well within the context of the Nokia 1200's basic utilitarian nature. With a purchase price that does not cost users much; high-tech features are not promised by the Nokia 1200 in return.
Nevertheless, satisfied users applaud the Nokia 1200 for its friendly and uncomplicated user-interface and excellent battery life, which it achieves at its low-cost rate. Those who prefer it basic, easy and extremely practical will never go wrong with Nokia 1200.
With the Nokia 1200, talk is even cheaper!

I have used this phone for a month now. I previously used Nokia 1100 (still love it but it lacks handfree) n Nokia 1110 (ugly screen, i lost it anyway). Overall 1200 is a excellent basic mobile but with one flaw (at least 4 me). Here are my overall review
What i liked:
-Good battery life: one charge normally lasts for three days with normal use n sometimes longer.
-Tourchlight: Really bright & useful
-Screen: Unlike colour screen the good thing about monochrome screen is it is viewable all the time. Even when i turn off the backlight the text (n power saver clock) is visible in even dim lighting condition. Some may prefer colour screen its the taste of people but for me monochrome screen rocks but brighter 1 as of 1108 would have been better.
-Calender: This is very neat feature for the price of this phone. I can input all my holidays and schedule.
-KeyPad: The keypad of model 1100 n 1110 were best(I do lot of text messeging). Although 1200 keys r bit difficult , the keys layout and overall feeling much better than motorola models which i have tried.
-Performance: No comment here, the sound quality was good if not better.
-Rigidness: The ads say, this mobile is meant to be rugged n is able to withstand shocks and drops, which is good but i'm not sure abt this claim.
What i didnt like:
Charger: This is 1 thing i really hate about this model. Nokia has introduced a charger with new point(so charger of other nokia models wont work with this one). With other nokia models i could easily charge them most of the time since Nokia phones r common. But with its new charger point in this model i dont have that comfort. Wonder why Nokia made this move. This is a serious flaw 4 me as i'm not at home always.
Overall design: Ok it varies with people but 2 me the look & design of 1110 model was better.
Message storage: It can only store 60 messages which is not enough i think. The cheapest motorola phone offers more message storage.
There r some software problems but they r extremely minor.
Overall, except for new charging point and less message capacity the phone is excellent for people who really need a basic mobile. I wish Nokia offered this model with a FM tuner.
