A lightweight and slim mobile phone, the LG KP170 is a breeze to use as it slips into its user's pocket easily. It has the full measurements 45 x 105 x 14 millimetres and a total weight of 72 grams including its fitted battery. It has an uncompromising design that is modeled after the candy bar style and it comes in brilliant colours, including luxurious silver.

The mobile phone flaunts an LCD display screen that works on TFT technology. It measures 44.96 millimetres and showcases images and graphics in 262,144 crisp and sharp colours over a screen resolution of 128 x 160 Megapixels. To add to its distinctive look and appeal, the handset is pre-installed with ringtones in MP3, AMR. MIDI, i-Melody and AAC customisable formats, as well as polyphonic format that is available in more than 32 channels.

The handset functions on a GSM air interface and is a dual band mobile phone that supports 900 and 1800 Mhz. Users can also access the World Wide Web using the WAP xHTML 2.0 Internet browser that is pre-installed in the mobile phone. Sharing and transferring of data and files is also easy using the handset's USB cable, version 2.0. For wireless transfers, a Bluetooth version 2.0 is another option. Through these features, data can be transferred to or from compatible devices such as a handset, a printer, a scanner, a personal computer or a laptop. The LG KP170 is powered by GPRS Class 10 and EDGE technologies, which ensure speedier rates of data transfers.

The messaging facilities of the handset include SMS or text with Predictive Text technology that cuts short the time it will take for users to compose their text messages. It also supports enhanced messaging and multimedia messaging services to allow users to send and receive longer messages and photos or images right on their handset.

The LG KP170 proves to be a reliable assistant for business-minded users. Its key organiser features include a vibration alert option for those calls and text messages that just cannot be missed. It also has an address book that stores 1,000 contacts and their details, an alarm clock for time-conscious users, a planner for those nitty-gritty details and a calculator for users to do their urgent computations even when on the go. Moreover, the mobile phone comes with voice mail and conference call capabilities to address a business-oriented user's optimum needs. It also comes with the customary call features of Caller ID, Call Barring, Call Hold, Call Waiting and Call Timer that generally allow users to keep track of the calls they have been making or receiving.

While endowed with practical features, the mobile phone also boasts of built-in quality entertainment features that users will enjoy. Photo-loving users will appreciate the handset's integrated 3-Megapixel VGA camera that works on CMOS optical sensor. Additionally, the built-in camera also works on 4x digital zoom over a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels that allow better photo outputs. Besides capturing still photos, users are also able to take moving footages via the handset.

In addition, the mobile phone pleases music enthusiasts with its integrated audio player that supports most widely accepted audio formats. Another music listening option is an FM radio which the LG KP170 supports. The handset also becomes a gaming zone for users with its support for Java MIDP 2.0 games that are downloaded from the Internet.

The mobile phone allows users to store contacts, messages, photos, videos and games with 4 Megabytes of internal storage capacity. The mobile phone offers users up to 240 minutes or approximately four hours of talk time. It is also capable of staying on full standby mode for a maximum of 100 hours when used on a fully charged battery.

The LG KP170 has been criticised for its lack of camera features, such as basic flash or LED. Others have also pointed out that primarily, it would have passed for a quality handset had it supported 3G HSDPA technology. There are also criticisms regarding the handset's lack of memory card support. Nonetheless, the mobile phone has gained wide acceptance from users who have found its ample array of internal features to be simple, practical and straightforward.

Considering the price its brilliant ! the camera is obviously not the best but it turned out to be alot better than i expected with lost of different features like a timer etc. Its also quite slim and sleek and looks a lot more than its worth ! Worth buying.

It is a good phone for young people such as, teenagers because it has everything a teenager would ever want. It is worth buying.
