HTC Snap is a 3G Smartphone that measures 116.5 x 61.5 x 12 millimetres and weighs 120 grams. It has a 60.96-millimetre TFT LCD external screen complete with a LED back light and a QWERTY keyboard right below it.
The screen presents crystal clear images and wallpapers in 320 x 240-pixel resolution. Users can opt to assign new alerts for the handset from a selection of ring tones in polyphonic and MP3 formats.
The HTC Snap is powered by Qualcomm processor and runs on Windows Mobile Professional operating system. It is quad band and supports GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900, as well as HSDPA 900 and 2100.
The mobile phone also allows users to navigate the World Wide Web using the pre-installed web browser. Users may also connect to the Internet via a Local Area Network using Wi-Fi support. Similarly, sharing of files with compatible devices like laptops, personal computers or printers is possible using the USB and wireless Bluetooth that the handset supports. The mobile phone is powered GPRS and EDGE technologies, which ensure that files are transferred or downloaded in high speed.
The mobile phone offers the standard services of SMS or text messaging, as well as MMS or multimedia messaging. It also allows users to access their electronic inbox, send or receive e-mail messages from their accounts or chat with their contacts through Instant Messaging right on the handset.
True to its business-oriented functionalities, the HTC Snap is equipped with organiser tools that make it an efficient virtual assistant. It has a phone book that stores contacts, a calendar and a clock for planning and scheduling purposes, a calculator for quick, on-the-go computations and a document viewer for most widely accepted file formats. The handset also supports the GPS navigation application and Google Maps, which serve as users' guide for directions in applicable locations.
The handset is not merely about the business-focused features. It also turns into an instant photo-capturing device with its 2-Megapixel camera complete with fixed focus that allows users to better capture their photo subjects. The display screen serves as a viewfinder while the camera comes with a dedicated capture button. Besides capturing still photos, the built-in camera also records video footage. The handset supports video viewing in ASF, WMV, MP4, AVI, 3GP, 3G2 and M4V formats. Users can store their photo and video files in a photo album for easy access and viewing at any time.
This mobile phone also delights music lovers with an integrated music player that supports WMA, MP3, MIDI, WAV, AAC+, AAC, eAAC+, QCP, AMR, and AWB audio formats. Users may download new songs from music Web sites or transfer tracks from their own CDs using the handset's connectivity options. Moreover, users may download games from the Internet and enjoy them on the handy mobile phone.
The HTC Snap allows users to store data in its RAM memory capacity of 192 Megabytes or ROM memory of 256 Megabytes. Users may also expand the handset's storage capacity using a MicroSD memory card. Its fitted battery offers GSM talk time of approximately 8.5 hours or an equivalent of five hours in 3G talk time. The handset stays on standby mode for approximately 380 hours in GSM, or 480 hours in HSDPA.
Some unhappy users of the HTC Snap find the handset's design unattractive for a 3G Smartphone. Other users opine that the handset would have been the real mobile phone gizmo had its screen worked on haptic technology. The mobile phone is also criticised for its simple features which do not make it stand out amid most current handsets' advanced feature offers.
Meanwhile, satisfied users of the handset attest that the QWERTY keypad is very comfortable for typing. The handset also appeals to on-the-go users who need a practical handset minus the volume, because it fits in the pocket and is not bulky when hand-carried. There are also individuals who also saythat this mobile phone's organiser features are very efficient for scheduling and sorting emails. Users contend that the HTC Snap offers decent features without the pizzazz, but ensure valuable practicality.
