About the country
The Kingdom of Spain is the official name of Spain. It is located in the South-western Europe, bordering the Bay of Biscay, Mediterranean Sea, North Atlantic Ocean, and Pyrenees Mountains, southwest of France. The Official and most common language of those people is Castilian Spanish ( 74%). Spain's powerful world empire of the 16th and 17th centuries ultimately yielded command of the seas to England. Subsequent failure to embrace the mercantile and industrial revolutions caused the country to fall behind Britain, France, and Germany in economic and political power. Spain remained neutral in World Wars I and II but suffered through a devastating civil war (1936-39). Democracy was restored in 1978 in the form of a constitutional monarchy. In term of economy, it is mainly based on services, Industries and agriculture. It has Natural resources such as coal, lignite, iron ore, uranium, mercury, pyrites, fluorspar, gypsum, zinc, lead, tungsten, copper, kaolin, hydroelectric power. Spain's Purchasing power parity domestic product (GDP) as of 2007 estimate is approximately $1.352 trillion with GDP of $30,100 per capita.
