About Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico, officially the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, is a self-governing unincorporated territory of the United States located in the northeastern Caribbean, east of the Dominican Republic and west of the Virgin Islands. Most of Puerto Rico's people belong to Roman Catholic religion. The official and most common languages of those people are Spanish and English. It has 80.5% of White and rests are black, Amerindian, Asian and mixed people. Puerto Rico has one of the most dynamic economies in the Caribbean region. A diverse industrial sector has far surpassed agriculture as the primary locus of economic activity and income. Encouraged by duty-free access to the US and by tax incentives, US firms have invested heavily in Puerto Rico since the 1950s. Puerto Rico's gross domestic product (GDP) as of 2007 estimate is approximately $77.4 billion with GDP of $19,600 per capita.
