About Peru

Peru, officially the Republic of Peru, is a country in western South America. It is bordered on the north by Ecuador and Colombia, on the east by Brazil, on the southeast by Bolivia, on the south by Chile, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean. The population of Peru is approximately 29,180,899. The population density of it is 22/sq km. It has a population growth rate of 1.264%. Most of Peru's people belong to Roman Catholic religion. The official and most common language of those people is Spanish. It has 45% of Amerindian and rests are mestizo, white, black, Japanese and Chinese people. Peru's economy reflects its varied geography - an arid coastal region, the Andes further inland, and tropical lands bordering Colombia and Brazil. Abundant mineral resources are found in the mountainous areas, and Peru's coastal waters provide excellent fishing grounds. Peru's gross domestic product (GDP) as of 2007 estimate is approximately $101.504 billion with GDP of $3,616 per capita.
