About Guinea
Guinea, officially Republic of Guinea, is a country in West Africa, formerly known as French Guinea. Guinea's territory has a curved shape, with its base at the Atlantic Ocean, inland to the east, and turning south. Official and most common language of those people is French. It has 40% of Peuls, 30% of Malinkes, 20% of Soussou and 10% of smaller ethnic people. Guinea possesses major mineral, hydropower, and agricultural resources, yet remains an underdeveloped nation. The country has almost half of the world's bauxite reserves and is the second-largest bauxite producer. The mining sector accounts for over 70% of exports. Long-run improvements in government fiscal arrangements, literacy, and the legal framework are needed if the country is to move out of poverty. Guineaís gross domestic product (GDP) as of 2005 estimate is approximately $18.879 billion with GDP of $2,035 per capita.
