About Croatia
The Republic of Croatia is the official name of Croatia. It is located in the Southeastern Europe, bordering the Adriatic Sea, between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia. Following World War II, Yugoslavia became a federal independent Communist state under the strong hand of Marshal TITO. Although Croatia declared its independence from Yugoslavia in 1991, it took four years of sporadic, but often bitter, fighting before occupying Serb armies were mostly cleared from Croatian lands. Under UN supervision, the last Serb-held enclave in eastern Slavonia was returned to Croatia in 1998. In term of economy, it has a stable functioning market economy which is one of the most advanced of South-Eastern Europe. It has Natural resources such as Oil, bauxite, low-grade iron ore, calcium, natural asphalt, mica, clays, salt, and hydropower. Its Purchasing power parity domestic product (GDP) as of 2007 estimate is approximately $68.98 billion with GDP of $15,500 per capita.
