Wireless Broadband
Many more broadband providers are offering a free wireless router when you sign up to a broadband internet deal with them. These wireless broadband deals mean that you do not need a wire to connect your computer to the router, which is what connects to the internet, instead you use your desktop or laptop computer's wireless card.

About Wireless Broadband
Wireless broadband means that the connection from your computer to your broadband modem or router is wireless, unlike mobile broadband where the connection from the modem to the internet service provider is wireless. There are two principal reasons for getting wireless broadband. Firstly, it allows you to easily place your computer somewhere in your home or business that is not next to or even near to your main phone socket, which is where you will normally plug in the broadband router. Also, it allows several computers to share one broadband internet connection without using a lot of cables.Wireless broadband is provided using a wireless router that is either connected to or includes a broadband modem, and a wireless adapter connected to or integrated into the user's computer. The system is called Wi-Fi and the standards are 802.11b, 802.11g and most recently 802.11n, which in order provide faster data transfer and a better range. The range is particularly important in a house where there are thick walls or heating systems in between your computer and the router. Many broadband offers include a free wireless router when you sign up, although the highest specification routers need to be purchased separately. When ordering wireless broadband, bear in mind that the internet speed is first limited by the broadband download speed, which is normally less than the maximum speed of the wireless connection.
