About Mobile Broadband
Mobile broadband refers to internet access delivered over a mobile phone network. GSM networks have been upgraded to 3G and later HSDPA networks, providing download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps.You can use mobile broadband from any computer although most people choose to use a laptop rather than a desktop computer. Almost all mobile broadband modems are both connected and powered via a USB connection. While 3 have the largest coverage, which they now share with T-Mobile, Vodafone have the fastest connections delivered over HSDPA.
When choosing a mobile broadband provider, it's a good idea to check that mobile network's coverage in the area you think you will most frequently use the internet, for example in your home if you aren't going to have wired internet access aswell. The best way to try this is to find someone with a mobile phone on that network and to access a website from the phone, and compare speeds between the networks. Mobile broadband modems work exactly like a mobile phone, so the speed should be about the same.
