About Business Broadband
Broadband internet has become a necessity for almost all businesses in the UK. Business broadband allows all companies to communicate and collect information at outstanding speeds. But business broadband deals offer a number of features that make them stand out from standard home broadband connections. The first is that contention ratios are normally lower. This means that less offices share a particular connection than households share a home connection. The reason for this is to reduce the extent to which your connection speed suffers when other people start downloading at the same time, also particularly important as businesses all use the internet heavily during working hours.
Another important feature of most business broadband deals is a fixed IP address or static IP address. While most home broadband connections give you a dynamic IP address that is assigned to you each time you go online, business broadband gives you just one (or more) IP addresses that stay the same, even when you disconnect and reconnect from the internet. Fixed IP addresses allow you to run a web server from within your own office, and more importantly allow you to set up secure remote connections for your employees to connect to your network.
