On Thursday, Nokia announced four new mobile phones in the C Series, although these 4 devices come under just two broad names, the Nokia C1 and Nokia C2. In the photo shown above from left to right, the phones are the C1-00, C2-00, C1-01 and C1-02. In the UK, the only announced and now released phone in the C-Series is the C5.

The Nokia C1-00 and C2-00 are both dual SIM devices; the C1-00 requires you to switch the active SIM by pressing keys on the phone, whereas the C2 keeps both SIM cards active. Targeting the developing world, the C1-00 has an LED flashlight, along with an FM radio. The C2 is more advanced with support for 32GB of memory via the microSD slot, a standard music player with the FM radio and support for Nokia’s Ovi Life Tools “covering healthcare, agriculture, education and entertainment”.

The Nokia C1-01 and C1-02 are surprisingly not dual SIM phones and focus instead on features similar to the C2 such as the microSD slot and media player. The C1-01 is the only one of the four that has a VGA camera.

If you’re confused, don’t worry, so are we. We’re not sure if Nokia will bring out just one of the Nokia C1s in each territory, so they have just two handsets branded as the Nokia C1 and C2, or if they’ll confuse us all further by releasing all 4 in some territories. In any case, expect the first Nokia C1 around July or August, with the other handsets following later in 2010.
